We currently have an opening for an experienced leader to serve as the Department Director of Workers’ Compensation Claims Administration. The department consists of approximately 50 claims professionals, comprised of five teams of claims adjusters and one administrative support unit. The department manages workers’ compensation claims for Texas school districts, community colleges, and education service centers.
Direct supervision of five claim managers, one claims support manager, and have responsibility for managing a claims operation of approximately 50 claims professionals.
Supervision includes claims management, personnel and fiscal responsibilities.
Maintain proper staff-to-file ratios to administer claims within the rules and regulations of the Division of Workers’ Compensation, Texas Department of Insurance.
Ensure department provides exceptional customer service.
Ongoing development of new processes, procedures, and innovative problem solving to achieve continuous improvement in service, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Ensure compliance with internal policy and state regulatory requirements.
Responsible for establishing and maintain budge for the department.
Effectively manage and motivate employees.
Generate and analyze reports to identify trends.
Oversee reinsurance recovery process.
Coordinate periodic claims audits with the TASB RMF Compliance department.
Assist the Division Director and other TASB management staff on special projects.
Skills and abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to effectively function in a fast paced environment
Ability to engage and manage remote staff members
Strong business acumen
Ability to technically supervise a wide variety of workers' compensation files
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of ten years’ experience handling Texas Workers' Compensation claims is preferred
Minimum of five years’ experience in supervision or management
Experience in budget planning and budgeting is required.
Valid Texas driver’s license
Approximately 15% travel within the State of Texas
Ability secure 03 or 08 Adjusters’ license within 6 months of hire
