As the Enterprise Risk Management Specialist, you will be responsible for planning, establishing policies and procedures, and analysis for risk management processes, in order to support the attainment of the corporation’s goals and objectives. You will also work collaboratively with all areas of the corporation to understand the risks to the business and engage key stakeholders into the Enterprise Risk Management process.
Design, maintain and direct the implementation and maintenance of the overall Corporate Enterprise Risk Management Framework, risk policy and business risk management strategy.
Develop and evolve a risk management roadmap that accounts for various levels of risk maturity, existing risk management processes and the changing needs of the corporation.
Provide consultative and technical advice to all levels of management, including the executive, regarding risk management initiatives, and issues including advice associated with new business directions and products, and new developments.
Lead in the development and refinement of corporate risk management policies and strategies, ensuring they are in compliance with regulations, rating agency standards and the corporation’s strategy.
Implement operational risk assessment processes and facilitate risk sessions.
Lead the establishment and communication of the corporation’s risk management objectives and direction with all business units of the corporation.
Provide direction, oversight and general administration of the Enterprise Risk Management unit.
Develop relationships and information sources with external risk management practitioners.
Research and assess risk management previous results, and current practices and trends, to determine current and future risks and mitigation strategies.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as economics, business administration, finance, statistics or accounting.
Completion of the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) or Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or another related designation is required.
Five years related experience providing risk management services, including several years managing and developing staff.
Experience in the property and casualty insurance industry is an asset.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and interact successfully at all levels within the corporation.
Highly developed research skills.
Exceptional ability to gather functional business process requirements and translate into technical specifications.
Strong working knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management concepts.
Demonstrated ability to identify and manage risks.
