BCI is currently seeking a permanent full-time Market Risk Analyst to support our Investment Strategy & Risk department. The Market Risk Analyst is part of the Investment Risk Management team and reports to the Manager, Market Risk. The Analyst is responsible for developing risk dashboards, performing what-if analysis, and onboarding new investments into the risk system. The responsibility includes supporting risk reporting by running, reconciling and interpreting risk reports for both Total Fund risk and specialized views such as asset class, derivatives and stress tests. The Analyst also contributes to analytics enhancements, validating risk models, documenting operational procedures, performing ad-hoc quantitative analysis, and providing backup for other team members.
The Investment Strategy & Risk (ISR) department consists of two branches: Investment Strategy and Investment Risk. Investment Strategy includes the maintenance of a framework for understanding and estimating variable risk premiums over relevant time periods, research of relevant macro-economic issues including business cycle dynamics and research of emerging economic or financial trends, opportunities and risks, all at an asset class and total fund level. Investment Risk includes the maintenance of systems for monitoring, measuring and estimating various forms of relevant investment risks across the various asset classes that BCI currently invests or may invest in and aggregating that risk at a total fund level.
Master’s degree in finance, statistics or mathematics, or combination of education and experience
2-5 years’ experience in the risk management or investment industry
Good knowledge of financial instruments including derivatives
Understanding of analytical tools and their data nekeds as well as basic risk management methodologies
Experience with risk statistics and different forecasting methods such as value at risk and tracking error
High proficiency in Matlab and VBA
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Familiar with data tools such as Bloomberg, FactSet, and risk calculation systems
Pension fund or asset management experience
FRM/PRM or CFA or CQF designation
