The Risk Management Claims Specialist will be responsible for claims handling, data analysis, reporting and internal communications, leading third party claims administration management and leading in developing and managing an effective transitional duty program. This role works with internal company functions and will assist in managing external risk services providers to ensure risks are identified, quantified, managed, and financed or insured as appropriate.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Independently and pro-actively investigates and manages to final resolution property damage, general liability and workers compensation claims through the company’s third-party administrator
Responsible for managing the work and performance of TPA, defense attorneys and other vendors to achieve successful resolution of claims.
Act as liaison between management, claimants, TPA, carriers, defense attorneys, broker or others about claim. Responds to various written and telephone inquiries including status reports.
Where appropriate, negotiate and resolve claims promptly within settlement authority.
Set up and maintain claims information files, data and claims accounting functions. Documents all claims in tracking spreadsheets for analytics.
Responsible for preparing detailed risk management reports for department and company leadership to provide regular updates and “early warning” on the company’s risk management efforts and status.
Analyze key performance indicators of the third-party-claims administrator through a metrics-driven approach. Provide reports.
Lead and participate in claim reviews with broker, TPA, carriers, attorneys.
Protects company by contributing to develop risk management and loss control measures and programs; policies, guidelines, best practices and recommendations; assist in risk review and making recommendations regarding legal and other documents.
Assist in annual insurance marketing process, premium allocation, audit, escrow and property bill backs including annual distribution of policies and certificates.
Successful candidates should have a minimum Associates Degree, preferably in business and a minimum 3-5 yrs. experience in insurance, agency/brokerage or in risk management setting; prefer candidates with 3-5 yrs. in casualty claims handling. Industry designations desired (ARM, AIC, CPCU, or others). Candidates must have initiative with ability to work with minimum direct supervision. Excellent written/oral communication skills and customer service skills needed to work with team, providers, vendors. Must be a problem-solver and analytical with excellent time management/organizational skills to effectively multi-task.
