The Risk Services Specialist position serves as a brand protector, overseeing risk management activities that involve vendor management contracts and other agreements to ensure risks are identified and reasonably insured for their liabilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Develop an understanding of the company’s business risk, insurance related provisions in contracts and/or other agreements for the Enterprise
Manage new contracts and renewals for vendors, suppliers, or business consultants. Implement and improve internal systems used in connection with vendor contracts and renewals
Confirm the language within a contract or agreement for insurance and indemnification is suitable for the contractual obligations
Review, redline and negotiate contracts of the Company and its affiliates. Works closely with outside legal counsel to finalize nondisclosure agreements, approved and preferred vendor agreements, master service agreements, software agreements, license agreements, sponsorship agreements, marketing agreements, termination letters, amendments, renewals, etc. and communicates status to Sr. Director of Risk Management.
Provide guidance and support to internal business teams and outside legal counsel on a wide-range of issues to ensure achievement of business objectives during the contract review and negotiation process to include minimizing risks and liability
Arrange, attend or facilitate meetings with internal business teams to discuss business terms of an agreement or contract upfront, understand and communicate business terms and conditions, and participate in negotiations until contract is finalized
Prepare annual insurance updates to the Franchise Discovery Document. Monitor material changes in the insurance market that affect change and disclosure
Oversee and enforce internal systems and software used in connection with contract renewals and proactively communicate renewals to the department owner. Establish contract standards for insurance and indemnification wording
Analyze cyber threats, mitigation process and risk transfer strategies that inform IT and/or internal business teams on requirements and guidelines from our insurance carrier related to any Cyber Data Breach
Participate in discussions with outside legal counsel for the Enterprise on matters related to risk transfer to ensure insurance policies respond and apply to the operations of the Franchisor with minimal exclusions
Participate in all insurance renewals, including property and casualty, franchisor error and omissions, management liability, and ERISA bond obligations
Attend outside seminars and other business?related events related to contract and risk management
Provide support to the Company’s Crisis Communication teams as directed by the Sr. Director of Risk Management and may manage one or more positions and may manage work of peers on departmental project teams
Participate in special projects and perform duties in other areas as requested
Demonstrated negotiation capabilities and persuasion skills
Detail oriented and analytical individual with strong work ethic and follow-up skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with solid relationship-building and listening skills
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner
Accountable for specific performance and able to handle multiple tasks and maintain control and order over same
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Risk Management preferred
At least 3 years’ experience working in Risk Management, Insurance, Legal or a Franchise business model; or a combination of the above
