The Manager, Risk Management takes lead responsibility for developing plans and executing initiatives that support short and long-term strategies around the total cost of risk for the corporate insurance program. This position is responsible for the administration of risk management programs and oversight of insurance and claims service partners. The Manager collaborates with the Sr. Director-Risk Management to establish and implement strategies to minimize risk and cost for financial and professional lines, property, casualty, public liability, workers compensation, cyber, etc. This position also manages direct reports.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Manage the insurance renewal process, gather exposure data for primary and excess property & casualty program, financial/professional/executive risk lines, meet with underwriters, assist in developing program design and market selection ensuring the most cost effective and comprehensive coverages
-Manage insurance carrier relationships ensuring a proper understanding of business operations, growth strategy, exposure, risks and mitigation strategies
-Establish key performance indicators for Third Party Claims Administration partner and monitor actual performance. Independently and proactively identify key issues and trends and recommend alternative action plans to ensure performance goals and expected service levels are met.
-Responsible for development, implementation and administration of claims handling protocols to include reserving, settlement consult levels, claim audits/reviews for workers' compensation and public liability claims
-Identify, evaluate and critique alternative services or initiatives that may enhance the insurance, risk management and claims administration program, make recommendations as needed and manage efforts to implement approved initiatives
-Oversight of self-insured workers' compensation state filings and audit process -Maintain established Sarbanes-Oxley controls
-Manage the process to prepare annual risk management business plan budgets
-Review contracts and agreements as requested by law department to ensure insurance adequacy and indemnity provisions are acceptable
-Provides assistance to develop insurance strategies that optimize the Company's tolerance to risk retention within acceptable levels of variability to financial results
-Ensures that risk management policies and strategies are in compliance with governmental regulations, rating agency standards, and Darden's strategic objectives
-Serves as the primary relationship / contact person for all broker(s), underwriters, claim handlers and other insurance related personnel
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:
-Minimum 7 years of combined experience in a corporate risk management department, insurance broker or claims administration account management
-Experience with implementing and managing large corporate insurance programs -Sound technical insurance and financial management skills
-Proven understanding of all lines of insurance coverage
-Knowledge of risk and insurance claims management best practices
-Prior successful management and execution of insurance related programs

-Demonstrated strategic leadership experience on highly visible business initiatives
-Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
-Excellent negotiation skills -Demonstrated ability to interact and manage at all levels of the organization -Ability to meet aggressive deadlines with accurate and concise analyses
-Ability to prioritize effectively, delegate and move multiple concurrent projects to successful completion
