Broward County seeks a forward-thinking Risk Manager to review, analyze, edit and revise contracts, leases, and other agreements as well as procure various coverages to protect the County. The successful candidate will work within the Division and with other County and outside agencies to improve processes and procedures of the section. The Risk Manager maintains County insurance policies from analyzing the coverage needs, completing applications, through the renewal. The Risk Manager also ensures that the County is protected in its relationships by setting insurance requirements, reviewing coverages, monitoring compliance, and maintaining Certificates of Insurance or other evidence of coverage. This person will assist in ensuring that every County entity consistently complies with County risk policy and conforms to appropriate risk appetite.
The Risk Manager has supervisory responsibilities for a staff of three and acts as a liaison with other agency-based risk personnel. The Risk Manager also coordinates with Broward County, state and federal officials on FEMA guidelines and regulations and acts as a liaison for the Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) or the Controlled Insurance Program (CIP).
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business or public administration, computer science or closely related field.
Requires six (6) years in an administrative capacity reviewing and evaluating contracts and leases; two (2) years in a supervisory and training capacity and one (1) year experience in performing risk management analysis for multiple types of insurance coverage or closely related experience and a State of Florida Resident Adjuster License All-Lines 6-20.
Special Certifications and Licenses Required:
Possess and retain relevant insurance license based on area of assignment.
State of Florida Resident Adjuster License All-Lines 6-20
Possess and maintain valid Florida Class E driver's license for the duration of employment.
