Leidos is seeking a Risk Manager to join the team in the Reston, VA headquarters.
The Risk Manager will be responsible for managing and directing all aspects of the company’s more complex insurance programs that mitigate significant financial risks to the Company, including professional, aviation, international, and property/builders risk and surety programs.
The position will also be required to clearly articulate corporate insurance and risk management philosophy to the company’s senior management and line organizations, identify and implement process efficiencies, develop and present training materials, and assist with contract and subcontract negotiations involving insurance requirements and related indemnification obligations.
This role will perform due diligence activities on larger, more complex acquisition candidates with major risk exposures and sophisticated risk management programs and develop plans to successfully integrate acquired companies into corporate insurance programs or manage stand-alone subsidiary programs.
In addition, the Risk Manager may supervise a small team and perform a full range of managerial duties, including recruitment, salary administration, performance reviews, counseling and employee professional development.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and 12+ years’ overall experience working in a corporate risk management department or related insurance industry experience is required. Industry ARM or CPCU designation is desired and may reduce the years of required experience. In addition, this role requires: • Demonstrated ability to manage complex insurance programs • Ability to effectively communicate with brokers, underwriters, line organizational leadership, and senior management personnel • Competency with IT systems, excel, and RMIS
