To support the Risk and Insurance team in identifying insurable risks and managing them through the cost effective provision of insurance solutions for National Grid businesses worldwide. To liaise with the businesses and provide insurance and risk management advice; lead on specific lines of insurance cover and provide support to the rest of the team on other policies.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
·Support senior members of the team, and in some cases lead, in the assessment, review and recommendation of insurance requirements for designated businesses and projects across National Grid ·Manage diverse sources of information and data, draw conclusions and produce insurance analysis, reports, presentations and strategies. ·Understanding of the global insurance market (preferably in the power or energy sectors); ·Communicate the group insurance strategy to designated businesses and generally across National Grid. ·Collate, analyse and submit underwriting information to insurers and reinsurers annually (and as and when required) to ensure all material matters are disclosed and insurances are efficiently placed. For auditable policies, lead audit at end of policy period. ·Coordinate US surety bond program, including issuance of bonds, monitoring outstanding bonds, and payment of broker invoices. ·Maintain an up to date knowledge of insurance market influences on designated lines of insurance coverage to ensure National Grid benefits or is protected from any market developments accordingly. ·Advise the business in the context of entering into commercial contracts on issues that relate to insurance. ·Implement the approved insurance strategy to ensure appropriate protection of National Grid’s assets and insurable liabilities.
Knowledge & Experience Required:
·Bachelor Degree in Risk Management & Insurance, Business or Finance; ARM / CPCU qualified (or progression) ·Up to 5 years of relevant experience within the insurance and risk management profession gained from in-house positions, underwriting or broking. ·Experienced in reviewing and negotiating insurance terms and conditions including conducting policy wording reviews. ·Experience of presenting to insurance and non-insurance audiences. ·A clear understanding of the global insurance market (preferably in the power or energy sectors); ·Manage diverse sources of information and data, draw conclusions and produce insurance analysis, reports, presentations and strategies. ·A sound knowledge of all of the usual lines of coverage purchased by a corporation of National Grid’s size and nature; with a detailed understanding in some of these classes. ·Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team.
