Under the general direction and supervision of the General Counsel and in coordination with the Corporate Insurance Department K+S Germany, the Insurance Specialist is responsible for the direction and management of the organization's Canadian Potash insurance program. This includes identification of hazard risks, managing the insurance program in order to eliminate or mitigate exposure to risk, advising on contract language, managing claims, contributing to policies and procedures, and internal training.
The successful candidate will:
Identify potential loss exposures caused by business operations with regard to hazard risks such as property, casualty, crime and executive risks and determine insurance requirements
Provide annual underwriting information to K+S AG and/or local insurance carriers
Advise on, set up, negotiate and bind insurance policies
Ensure policy documentation is accurate and compliant
Pay premium invoices and fees, prepare budgets and allocations
Advise on Canadian insurance tax issues
Manage the reporting, investigation, handling and settlement of insurance claims
Manage relationships with third party service providers - brokers, insurers and adjusters
Provide training and ad hoc information to employees regarding risk and insurance
Advise on risks related to policies and procedures

Qualifying requirements for this role:
University Degree, Bachelor of commerce or Business Administration, Risk, Insurance or a related discipline
Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation
5-8 years Risk Management and Insurance Program Management experience
Must possess knowledge of Canadian and international insurance markets
Must be able to understand and interpret legal products, regulation guidelines, insurance products and financial legislation
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Must be authorized to legally work in Canada
Successful candidates must be eligible to travel outside of Canada as travel may be required
