The System Insurance Manager (“Insurance Manager) is accountable for overall strategic management of Fairview’s commercial and captive insurance program and is responsible for assessing and identifying potential risks that may hinder the reputation, safety, security and financial prosperity of Fairview. The Insurance Manager will also ensure Fairview’s insurance applications; records and reports are prepared, accurate and complete, as well as overall administration of the insurance program. This position works closely with the Fairview Risk Management Department to identify, analyze, evaluate, treat and monitor the variety of risk exposures to the organization.
Responsible for insurance management and liaison with the insurance brokers and insurers to ensure proper financial analysis of coverage for evolving organizational risk, as well as analyze, assess and recommend improvements for risks across all business segments as needed.
Minimize risk of financial loss through ongoing assessment of the scope and adequacy of insurance coverages, including self-insurance levels
Identify and analyze risks associated with policies
Review and due diligence analysis of merger and acquisitions, contracts and agreements as needed, for new exposures and insurance related risk assessments.
Insurance policy renewals including negotiation and purchase of insurance coverage
Manage the day to day captive insurance company activities including quarterly and annual meetings, self-insured retention levels, assessment of new self-insured coverage opportunities, financial health, reporting, and oversight of the captive administrator to ensure Fairview maximizes the captive potential
Draft captive policy language changes in collaboration with insurance broker and captive manager
Manage certificates of insurance request and process
Manage the exposure tracking of property, physician and other professionals liability exposure, directors and officers’ lists with board memberships Coordinate and attend loss control visits internally and with insurers, and follow-up to ensure timely response to loss control recommendations that may result from such meetings.
Assist with review of Fairview business contracts to ensure appropriate coverage is present for Fairview needs and premium cost is appropriate to assessed risk
Annual commercial insurance budget and budget for risk finance cost for Fairview and subsidiaries
Coordinate insurance activities with the Risk Management Departments, including management of the Underwriting Committee.
Periodically present Insurance Program information to Management and Board committees.
Create and modify policies and procedures
Assists Risk Management with claims coverage analysis and interpretation.
Four Year Degree in Risk Management, Business, Accounting, Finance or Management
7+ years of corporate risk/insurance management, commercial insurance, captive and self-insurance and/or financial management work experience in roles showing progression of responsibility, including management experience.
Working toward or obtained insurance related designations such as Associate of Risk Management (ARM), or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
Masters of Business Administration Degree or working towards that goal
Healthcare insurance experience and/or 10+ years overall experience in related roles including substantial leadership experienced in large, complex organizations.
