THIS IS AN AT-WILL POSITION.
Senior-level professional and administrative work assisting the Manager, Loss Control in ensuring that County departments comply with applicable safety, industrial hygiene and environmental regulations. Administers, monitors and evaluates total loss control programs for a group of diverse and complex County departments. Identifies existing or potential exposures, recommending alternative courses of action and ensuring that corrective action is completed in all areas of loss control including more complex occupational safety, hazardous materials storage, disposal and vehicle safety. Develops and interprets the more complex/difficult policies. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Manager, Loss Control and is reviewed through conferences, written reports and observation of results obtained.
Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or Safety, Public Administration or one of the Natural Sciences; minimum of three (3) years of experience in loss prevention or occupational safety and health. Equivalencies: Unrelated Bachelor’s Degree/related Associate’s Degree and five (5) years of related experience OR unrelated Associate’s Degree and seven (7) years of related experience.
PREFERENCE FOR THREE (3) YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:As a trainer in Employee Safety, Loss Control or related areas. Also desirable: Certification by the American Society of Safety Professionals and/or as an Industrial Hygienist.
