Enterprise Risk Manager
Enterprise Risk Manager (QBE Americas, Inc.; New York, NY) Conduct risk and control assessments, monitor the company’s operation within risk appetite, and conduct metric analysis within QBE’s Enterprise Risk Management (“ERM”) Framework. Manage existing and emerging operational risks within assigned QBE business units and functional areas pursuant to US and Australian industry standards, and regulatory requirements governing the insurance industry. Analyze portfolio of US and Group/Australian insurance policies to minimize business risk within QBE’s ERM framework. Analyze impact of identified risks on business operations, and develop disaster mitigation strategies and business continuity plans to address identified risks in line with overall corporate risk appetite. Identify and evaluate existing risk controls by gathering and analyzing data, evaluating effectiveness of controls in relation to profits and losses while applying ERM guidelines. Partner with internal and external auditors to review results of auditing processes and identify factors to effectively prioritize required actions to mitigate identified risks in auditing results and processes. Develop and implement internal loss event reporting processes. Advise risk partners and business leaders on risk factors, and develop recommendations to capitalize on opportunities for continuous improvement and to drive the achievement of corporate risk management objectives in accordance with overall corporate risk strategy. Partner with ERM portfolio risk managers to identify any breaches of underwriting authority, as well as opportunities to enhance underwriting and loss control activities through management forums. Develop long-term approach to operational risk mitigation and loss control by performing stress testing and scenario analysis for future risks. Requirements: Must have a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Business Administration, Management, Psychology, Economics, Operations Research, or a related field, plus 4 years of experience in the insurance industry. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, employer will accept 2 additional years of experience in the insurance industry.
Of the required experience, must have 4 years of experience in each of the following:
Applying ERM framework to evaluate organization’s compliance and assurance processes
Advising internal stakeholders on risk mitigation strategies to address organizational risk and compliance exposure and market scenarios
Developing global business continuity frameworks and implementing contingency and risk remediation plans for integration into assigned business or functional areas
Analyzing conformity of business continuity and risk management framework to NFPA 1600; ANSI/ASIS SPC.1-2009; and Standards Australia HB 292-2006 industry standards
Performing scenario analysis of business operations
Formulating and implementing disaster recovery solutions by conducting impact assessment
Regulatory reporting and analyzing insurance risk under Australian Prudential Regulation Authority’s (APRA) General Insurance Prudential Standards and National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Standards
Analyzing changes to regulations and potential insurance risk impacts on an organization
Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in each of the following:
Identifying, measuring, and making decisions on operational risks within an organization’s ERM framework
Developing and implementing Risk and Control Self-Assessment Methodologies within an organization
Calculating and analyzing operational risks of an organization’s internal departments by applying Risk and Control Self-Assessment Methodologies
Developing loss event reporting processes
Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience in developing risk mitigation strategies by collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing underwriting, exposure, retention, and claims trend profit-and-loss metrics.
