This is a full-time position to provide support to internal customers (e.g. DOWL Project Managers), whose purpose is to increase productivity and efficiency, manage and reduce risk, and reinforce the company character.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Identify, analyze and classify operational and insurable risks for financial impact to corporation including expected frequency, trends and severity.
Formulate and review professional service contracts and subcontracts.
Review other contracts and leases and provide risk-based assessment and recommendations.
Review and negotiate general liability, workers compensation, and professional liability policies.
Coordinate with project managers and insurance companies to provide appropriate certificates of insurance.
Research legal issues and assist with claim investigations and responses.
Manage and assist with selecting appropriate risk financing techniques and implements insurance programs and policies to minimize loss, such as avoidance, loss prevention and reduction, retention, transfer, grouping of exposure units, and transfer.
Assist with various projects by conducting quality control/quality assurance audits.
Assist CRO with education and outreach efforts to increase risk awareness and mitigation.
Assist in assembling quarterly written reports to be reviewed by the Board relative to risk matters and ongoing and impending litigation.
Assist in assembling annual summaries of risk and litigation activities with an emphasis on costs, effort, avoidance, mitigation, and lessons learned.
Research and submit insurance claims and follow up on claim resolution.
Other duties as assigned by CEO and CRO.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficient with the operational characteristics, services, and activities of a comprehensive risk management and safety program.
Strong understanding of general contract terms and conditions – with an emphasis on Professional Services contracts - including indemnification provisions.
Experienced with insurance principles, practices, and terminology of loss reduction and loss control, as well as claims management, claims adjusting, and subrogation.
Possess good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to exercise strong multi?tasking and organizational skills to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines without impact to operations.
Knowledgeable of OSHA and state reports (such as OSHA 300) and poster requirements related to safety and workers compensation.
Ability to read, interpret, and disseminate information contained in loss reports.
Proficient operating modern office equipment to develop word processing, produce technical writing, research databases, conduct investigations, conducting research and development.
Proficient with MS Office 365 suite of products and possessing a demonstrated ability to work within a computerized Enterprise Management System such as Oracle, Deltek, or BST.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical analysis, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
