This position administers, interprets and controls the compilation of statistical, financial, and competitor information to assist management in the pricing of existing and new property/casualty products. Provides technical support for the development of actuarial studies, rate recommendations and state insurance department filings. Conducts detailed analysis in evaluation of insurance programs, including premiums, deductibles, class factors, indications, and trend data. Coordinates, prepares and performs analyses required to develop new product, project future results and re-price existing products. Uses actuarial modeling and financial projection software for pricing, valuation and/or risk management. May make adjustments and improvements to models, when appropriate. Maintains proper price levels, price structures, data availability and other requirements to achieve profitability and competitive goals. Works efficiently with product managers and others on the business team to produce effective state/line rate proposals. Produces state filings and provides the support for insurance department requests on the filings. Serves as a resource to less experience team members on escalated issues of a routine nature.
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business or Economics. • 4 actuarial exams and a commitment to actively pursue attainment of Associate membership into the Casualty Actuarial Society • 4 - 6 years actuarial experience in the property/casualty insurance industry (Personal Lines Preferred) • 3+ years of hands on experience working on insurance/actuarial models in model review, validation and scenario analysis • Strong analytical and decision-making skills • Strong written and oral communication skills are required • Deals effectively with detail, but keeps “big picture” perspective • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously • Ability to create unique solutions to complex problems and effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technicians is desired • Advanced computer skills, including proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Access
