This role is responsible for developing, implementing and maturing Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) for the Sutter Health enterprise. The Director will oversee an enterprise-wide process that facilitates the identification, assessment, prioritization, documentation and mitigation of key organizational risks. The Director ensures the development of mechanisms for collection of data related to key enterprise risks and development of standard reporting formats for risk owners and appropriate leadership. The Director partners with various teams conducting risk management activities to provide a comprehensive view of the risk landscape across the enterprise. The Director will coach and partner with leadership, including senior leadership, in applying the principles of ERM including risk identification, evaluation, prioritization and the development of risk mitigation plans. Through an ERM work group model, the Director develops a framework to standardize monitoring of the effectiveness of key risk mitigation and management activities across the system. The Director also provides high level reporting to senior leadership and Board of Directors, under the direction of, and with the support of, the Chief Risk Officer (CRO). This position reports directly to the CRO.
ERM Certified Professional within 12 months of hire is required
Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred
Certified Internal Auditor preferred
Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional preferred
Certified in Healthcare Privacy & Security preferred
Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of experience in risk management, healthcare executive, business continuity, compliance, auditing, legal, finance or closely related field.
Juris Doctorate or Masters Degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance or closely related field and 6 years of recent exposure to management of risks, financial/regulatory departments, healthcare management or closely related field.
Ability to unify leadership to achieve a common goal.

Ability to build business relationships, strategic alliances, and partnerships.
Demonstrated ability to lead, drive and implement initiatives independently, working with numerous partners, departments and teams to deliver results.
Strong executive presence and confident in presenting information to large groups across multiple levels.
Experience developing and delivering senior level training content.
Action-oriented and ability to operate in ambiguous environments with minimal direction.
Highly organized, ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in managing a staff of two or more is preferred.
Detailed oriented, strong accuracy and completeness, diligence and discipline.
