The Role Responsibilities
To provide support to the Country Chief Risk Officer, SCB AG and Senior Credit Officer (SCO) FIR Europe in the management of SCB's risk exposure to Banks, Non-Bank Financial Institutions, and Government Groups for the countries allocated.
To manage portfolio assigned by conducting credit evaluation, structuring credit / product solutions and implementing risk management initiatives.
Proactive identification and reporting of risks and concerns.
Mitigation of risks and resolution of issues in a timely manner including developing suitable controls and measuring their effectiveness.
Exercise personal delegated credit authority and to make recommendations to higher authorities if otherwise.
To make credit decisions / recommendations based on risk / reward.
Facilitate Business Development
Evaluate applications from regional Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) / Financial Markets units for new accounts, reviews, increases in running limits and one-off proposals.
Analyse and reallocate credit limits on basis of business units' requirements, systems, products and usage patterns.
Monitor and review sovereign and central bank limits for assigned countries. (Assess appropriateness of limits for FM activities).
Where appropriate, evaluate and approve credit limits and excess requests within delegated authorities.
Where appropriate, direct and control a small team of analysts.
Visit customers to facilitate credit assessment.
Establish regular contacts with business units.
Provide support for execution of legal documentation.
Deputise for the SCO or Country Chief Risk Officer Europe on relevant risk committees including Early Alert, Regional Credit Issues forum, and Regional Credit Committee.
Processes Policy & Process
Policy adherence - Ensure that all entities are approved at the right level and that credit policy breaches, credit reference level breaches, Underwriting Standards breaches are all highlighted and cleared as appropriate.
Comply with SCB's Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
Credit grading - Ensure that all entities are scored accurately prior to recommendation for credit approval.
Monitoring & Control
Ensure Underwriting Standards for countries assigned are reviewed and are always current .
Prepare Monthly credit reports on key credit issues affecting the countries assigned.
Investigate and act where appropriate for movements in the external credit ratings where applicable.
Monitor / maintain close watch on the credit limits of assigned countries.
Regulatory & Business Conduct

Key Stakeholders Internal
Business - Global Account Managers, Relationship Manager, Field Account Managers, Client Managers.
CIB - discuss information on counterparties and give indications to CIB as to acceptability of credit and the extent of credit appetite.
Risk - All staff in other Risk units - London, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, India, Seoul, Traded Risk Management
Trade Operations - Respond on a timely basis to trade applications received and clarify any issues prior to approval.
Senior Management - prepare information required on an ad-hoc basis.
Internal Auditors - Information on portfolio, policy, process and decisions taken.
