We have an excellent career opportunity for a Senior Management Specialist, Risk Management and Insurance Program, who will report to a SCA Claims and Risk Manager in the Office of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and serves as the primary point of contact for the SCA's Insurance Broker ("Broker"), Third Party Adjuster ("TPA") and defense counsel teams and bridges their connection to SCA staff, construction management firms, contractors, subcontractors and other vendors.
The Senior Management Specialist coordinates and supports specific aspects of insurance program management, including but not limited to incident reporting and claims management including responding to discovery demands, data reporting and analysis and assisting in the development and implementation of SCA policies and procedures. The Specialist may be designated as leader for any number of insurance program-related projects and programs.
Other major responsibilities:
Serve as a foundational member of the SCA Risk Management and Insurance Program team.
Act as main point of contact and collaborate seamlessly with SCA Broker, TPA and defense counsel teams.
Act as liaison between TPA, defense counsel, and SCA staffs, construction management firms, contractors, subcontractors, the NYC Department of Education and the City of New York.
Track and maintain the SCA's claims and docket of cases.
Research, obtain and provide information, documents, identify and coordinate witnesses' appearances and the execution of documents responsive to Broker, TPA and defense counsel requests and plaintiffs' demands.
Coordinate with SCA's Broker and SCA Legal Department, as appropriate, with respect to the OCIP claims and litigation; review pleadings, discovery demands, and SCA responses to discovery demands.
Work with the SCA Claims and Risk Manager, Broker and TPA to improve claims management protocols and reporting processes.
Prepare reports of open general liability and Workers' Compensation claims on monthly basis.
Support the evaluation of claims and lawsuits arising under the OCIP.
Attend and participate in quarterly claims reviews.
Handle claims that are not covered under the OCIP and coordinate with the SCA Claims and Risk Manager, Broker, TPA and counsel with respect to same.
Oversee appropriate storage, retention and destruction of documents relating to the insurance program and related litigation.
As necessary, support the SCA Legal Department in responding to subpoenas and FOIL requests and providing discovery and litigation support to the NYC Law Department when SCA is a defendant.
Other special assignments as may be made from time to time by the Chief Operating Officer.
Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; and five years of full-time experience in consulting, design and implementation of management reports, or operations, financial, and/or management analysis, including relevant computer skills.
Detailed knowledge of the SCA and its operations and systems including: PCM, LCMS, PTS, CMS and VAS; knowledge of the construction industry and the processing of personal injury and property damage claims; familiarity with the insurance claim process (reporting) and consequential litigation from inception through trial; strong verbal and written communication with various entities including but not limited to insurance brokers, carriers, third party adjusters, legal firms, city agencies, contractors, and all levels of SCA staff; organized tracking of and timely response to information requests; research, tracking and follow-up to investigation of claims, incidents, and litigation; ability to perform complex analyses.
