Essential Functions
- Recommends and assists management and staff on methods to mitigate risk.
- Conducts research and advises management on risk management and risk related issues including those involving applicable state and federal laws, rules and regulations.
- Establishes methods to consistently improve cost savings through development and administration of creative risk management and insurance programs.
- Establishes, updates, negotiates, prepares bid specifications and conducts bid analysis for all District property and casualty insurance, District safety and loss control and risk management functions.
- Manage the worker's compensation program, including claims.
- Prepares, reviews and evaluates the insurance or other evidence of financial responsibility, bonding and safety requirements in District-wide Requests for Proposals, Bids, Quotes and the resulting contracts.
- Reviews all certificates of insurance issued to the District by respondents to proposals, bids, quotes and purchase orders. Reviews the certificates to ensure they meet coverage and limit requirements.
- Maintains, manages, investigates and updates an incident reporting system for 1st party property damage events, 3rd party liability events and motor vehicle crash events.
- Conducts negotiations and discussions with attorneys, insurance companies, investigators and adjusters on claims against the District.
- Administers District’s safety program and coordinates the committee.
- Plans, develops, coordinates and schedules presentations and programs on the plans and programs of this area.
- Prepares reports and makes presentations to Governing Board, management and staff as requested for all programs under the purview of Risk Management and Safety.
- Reviews Environmental Assessment reports prior to acquisition of land to identify any potential environmental risk exposure.
- Coordinates and implements resources and activities related to emergency/crisis management issues.
- Participates in District emergency management activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Salary Information: Compensation: $64,000.00 - $75,000.00 This position is also eligible for relocation reimbursement, limited to moving expenses, upon meeting mileage and program criteria.
