Hours: 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday - Friday; will be required to work during emergencies.
Other: Valid Florida Driver’s License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.
THIS IS AN AT-WILL POSITION.
Professional and administrative work assisting the Manager, Loss Control, to ensure that County departments comply with applicable safety, industrial hygiene and environmental regulations. Responsible for administering, monitoring and evaluating total loss control programs for a group of County Departments. Identifies existing or potential exposures, recommending alternative courses of action and ensuring that corrective action is completed in all areas of Loss Control. These areas include but may not be limited to occupational safety, industrial hygiene, hazardous materials storage/disposal, indoor air quality, vehicle safety and asbestos management. Work is performed independently under the general supervision of the Manager, Loss Control, and allows wide latitude in work methods and procedures. Performance is reviewed through conferences, written reports and observation of results obtained.

Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or Safety, Public Health or one of the natural sciences or related field; minimum of two (2) years of experience in loss prevention or occupational safety and health. Equivalency: Unrelated Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of related experience.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE IN: Designing, developing, coordinating and presenting safety training programs; speaking effectively before large and small groups on loss control topics (must specify on application); detecting hazardous conditions in varied working situations and operations (must specify on application); preparing comprehensive technical and non-technical reports (must specify on application). Also desirable: Certified Safety Professional (CSP); Associate of Risk Management (ARM); Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
