Interested in a career in Underwriting? The Hartford offers a great opportunity to those currently pursuing their Bachelor’s degree. The Global Specialty Distribution internship program is designed to introduce sales and distribution to college students for a career in underwriting. December 2021 and May 2022 college graduates are encouraged to apply.
Evaluate demographics, prices and distribution channels to understand our product position
Determine brand perceptions and reputations – focus on distribution
Evaluate market penetration
Develop hypothesis of value adds and solicit customer feedback
Identify positive financial outcomes to increase profitability and cross sell
Create databases and capture market data
Create questionnaires and surveys
Conduct secondary research, including finding information from industry associations, statisticians and marketing experts
Generate reports monthly deliverables for underwriting management

Students expecting to graduate in December 2021 / May 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management and Insurance, Business Administration, Finance and Accounting, Economics, Marketing, or Liberal Arts with minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred
Familiarity with advanced statistical analysis and research methodologies, along with common computer programs
