About the Position
We are looking for a Nurse Case Manager to work in a fast-paced Utilization Review department to process Workers’ Compensation preauthorization requests, complete referrals to physician advisors and notify providers of preauthorization determinations. This is a primarily a virtual position including training.
Evaluates health care services and requested treatment utilizing accepted standards of practice, treatment guidelines, and written criteria; provide objective clinical decisions based on same.
Coordinates referrals to physician advisors.
Meets required time frames for pre-authorization decisions through oral and written responses and maintains compliance with all rules and regulations pertaining to utilization review.
Participates in claims review, audit and negotiation of fees for workers’ compensation cases.
Is a preauthorization team member with seven nurses and five intake coordinators.
Works independently from home with occasional trips to the office.
Training and job orientation will be completed virtually.
Reports to the Utilization Review (UR) Manager and works closely with the UR Assistant Manager.
Current registered nurse license to practice nursing in the State of Texas.
Minimal two years of clinical nursing experience, preference is five or more years.
Must be self-motivated.
