The Risk Lead Technician performs a variety of risk management tasks related to insurance policies, applications, endorsements, certificates, and claims. The ideal candidate will be able to skillfully balance detailed work along with excellent customer service in a collaborative team setting. This person will embody the HR Department's values of transparency, flexibility, and innovation. This is a full-time, benefited position with Boulder County.
Work hours are generally Monday through Thursday, from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, however the possibility for a 5 day/week schedule exists. *Please note that we are currently under a stay-at-home order but the Risk Lead Technician may work out of Boulder, CO once the order is lifted.
Under FLSA guidelines, this position is non-exempt.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Phone Screening: January 26 and 27 (30-minute phone call)
Videoconference Interviews: 1st Round Interviews: February 3 and 4 2nd Round Interviews: To be determined
Examples of Duties
Collaborates with Department of Housing and Human Services (DHHS) management, supervisors, employees, insurance carriers, and broker on insurance related requests, applications, claims, and other risk-related matters
High level of communication with DHHS, carriers, broker and others
Gathers information from many parties in the county for insurance needs
Prepares forms for insurance applications, claims, and other forms as necessary
Processes and manages certificate requests, policy change requests, and reporting
Reviews all insurance policy documents for accuracy
Maintains Risk Information Management System (RIMS-Origami) with policy, claim, and asset information
Assists with claim management duties as needed
Assists the DHHS Risk Analyst position and provides back up when out of office
Manages risk contract approvals through Financial System (Oracle)
Completes entry, review, and verification of invoices, purchase orders, and payments as needed in Financial System (Oracle)
Performs related work for other offices and departments as required
May be reassigned in case of emergency situation

Education & Experience:
Boulder County is looking for well-qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of combined education and experience. Relevant experience includes office experience and/or customer service experience.
Spanish bilingual is preferred.
Additional related education may count toward required experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of modern office practices and procedures
Considerable skill in operating computers with Microsoft Office, agency management systems or Risk Information Management System (RIMS), and other pertinent office equipment
Ability to provide a high level of customer service and work effectively with employees of varying levels, vendors, carriers, brokers, and the public both verbally and written form
Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
Ability to effectively manage time to meet deadlines
Knowledge of Property and Casualty insurance processing and/or policy
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality while working with highly sensitive date and information
Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a remote working environment
