SUMMARY: Solution-oriented insurance professional heavily experienced in all aspects of marine insurance and contract negotiation; team player who thrives in collaborative environment and is effective and motivated to share knowledge and experience; responsible for assigned insurance program renewals, maintaining relationships with brokers, insurers, and P&I Clubs, and working in support of and as a resource to Crowley business unit managers.  This position works closely with legal, claims, treasury, safety, security, labor relations and HR, and reports directly to the VP, Risk Management who, in turn, reports to General Counsel. Expertise in identifying and analyzing risk; accountable for best solutions to mitigate, accept and/or transfer risk in accordance with company risk tolerance and appetite.  Well-known and respected among brokers and insurance carriers as a marine insurance subject matter expert with strong relationship management skills. Strong communication and presentation skills. 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the guidance of and as assigned by Vice President, Risk Management; and in collaboration with Risk Management Department colleagues: 

• Risk analysis and insurance procurement, including proficiency with alternate risk transfer methodologies;
• Negotiation of insurance pricing and coverage terms (including extensive peer and industry benchmarking with the assistance of broker and industry resources);
• Review of insurance and indemnity provisions of vendor contracts, including active engagement with Crowley’s legal and procurement departments;
• Subject matter expert; ongoing explanation of coverage issues to management;
• Ability to use product knowledge to create/develop possible insurance solutions for vendors, third parties (including existing company customers);
• Support of company merger, acquisition and divestiture activities;
• Support of VP, Claims regarding claims and litigation processes;
• Collaboration with claims and safety to actively reduce Company’s exposure to risk.
