Sedgwick, the global leader in claims management, has an exciting opportunity and is actively recruiting and interviewing College sophomores and juniors for summer break 2022 to participate and perform in a structured, mentored internship role as defined by the sponsoring department management; introducing them to a career in Insurance to complete non-complex projects as assigned; and to report project results to the Operating Committee at the end of the internship which normally is a 12-week period Sedgwick helps people after a challenging life event – hurricane, fire or flood. PRIMARY PURPOSE: To introduce candidates to the Insurance Adjuster business with the upshot that they will desire to join the Sedgwick team upon graduation.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• Core: Insurance Basics, Time Management, Business Writing and Communications Skills.
• Operational:  Systems (Xactimate, Python), claims process and production.
• Professional: Data analysis, presentation skills and emotional intelligence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

• Completes assigned non-complex projects as defined by the sponsoring department management.
• Reports project results to the Operating Committee when the project is complete.
• Shadows experts who investigate and assemble facts from an insurance perspective.
• • Learns from business line leaders/experts to gain understanding of the insurance and engineering processes in office and in the field.
• • Assists with projects, observes meetings and inspections.
• • Participates in training on insurance coverages and principles, which may include analysis of loss experience, financial conditions and physical characteristics of risks.
• • Formalized training in business skills, insurance basics, engineering, property adjusting, and forensic accounting.

Education & Licensing
Current enrollment as a Junior or Senior in a degree program and in good standing at an accredited college or university is required.  Grade Point Average of at least 2.5 or equivalent is A +.
