The Chief Actuary, Property and Casualty directs and manages the actuarial operations and supervises Actuaries assigned to the MIA’s Property and Casualty Division. The Chief Actuary reviews rate/rule filings for adherence to actuarial principles and compliance with the Annotated Code of Maryland Insurance Article and COMAR. This position conducts surveys, special studies, data calls and prepares reports as required. This position also provides actuarial perspective and recommendations to the Property and Casualty (P&C) Division staff, the P&C Workgroup and other sections of the MIA; and may provide testimony in support of the analysis or opinions at rate hearings.
