Job Title: Corporate Insurance Administrator

Assist the Vice President & General Counsel in the placement and administration of the corporate insurance program, including the preparation of underwriting submissions and presentations, payment of invoices, reviewing coverage binders and insurance policies, developing budget forecasts, reviewing policy audits, contract reviews, and serve as liaison between Kirby and insurers and service Kirby operating companies with respect to insurance matters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Act as the primary insurance point of contact daily;
Work with various internal departments in development and/or review of revised language of various contracts and maintain a clear understanding the relevance of those provisions;
Serve as a liaison amongst Kirby stakeholders and counterparties during the negotiation of non-standard contract terms, and determine and address each affected department’s needs relative to those terms;
Review and analyze insurance policies when an interpretation of contract terms is needed, or when identification of differences in selected terms across contracts is required.
Review bi-monthly expiring/expired vendor insurance requirements and ensure compliance with Kirby’s approved supplier program
Provide file maintenance for charter boat insurance requirements
Provide insurance approval for chartered vessels
Review charter boat insurance policies and correspond with their agents Provide and keep current Kirby's vehicle schedule for auto liability insurance
Provide and update auto liability insurance cards to all divisions at renewal and as needed
Provide Accounting with KEX vehicle count for annual budget
Maintain auto liability files
Assist VP & General Counsel with placement and maintenance of all corporate property and casualty insurance policies and bonds
Issue monthly charter boat summary reports to distribution list
Provide customer/vendor lists to brokers for renewal
Review customer/vendor contracts for insurance requirements
Provide approved Kirby driver list and vehicle schedule for auto liability renewal
Standard Office Criteria. Typical work hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the risk management and insurance field, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the marine or energy industry; OR an equivalent combination of related education, training and work experience.
Preferred to have the following designations: CPCU, ARM and/or other commercial insurance designations; a law degree is preferable with experience reviewing contracts and understanding of indemnification in contracts.
Experience working with insurance policies, underwriting submissions, underwriter presentations and formal face to face meetings, contract/agreement reviews.
Working knowledge of all of the key commercial business insurance coverages, including but not limited to: Protection & Indemnity, pollution coverages, property/business interruption, commercial general liability, officers’ and directors’ liability, builder’s risk, pollution liability, and cyber liability insurance products and structures.
Possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks with little supervision.
Have excellent interpersonal skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
Computer savvy with strong working knowledge of full MS Office Suite (esp. Excel); prior exposure to Oracle preferred.
