This position functions as the focal point for the management and monitoring of company-wide workers compensation claims administration programs, regulations and guidelines, ensuring that company processes and procedures are in compliance and mitigate the company’s risk. Responsibilities include supporting respective business units by providing consultative advice, training and oversight on WC claim management, accident investigation and resolution. This position serves as the liaison between all AMETEK sites, third party administrators (TPAs) and defense counsel. Position requires some travel, as needed, to division locations.
5+ years of experience, with positive progression in worker’s compensation claims management, safety, ergonomic and human resource principles.
Educate, train and monitor divisions on workers compensation compliance, documentation, OSHA log reporting, and return-to-work methodologies.
Provide guidance and tailoring of the company medical case management, substance abuse, and modified duty policies in accordance with state WC, HIPAA and ADA requirements. Monitor policy implementation across the corporation. Maintain and update corporate “workers compensation guide”.
Coordinate, schedule and conduct division-level semiannual claim reviews in conjunction with the TPA and human resources for management of open WC claims while ensuring adequate reserves for exposure of claims. Review claim review summary provided by TPA and distribute to AMETEK HR Business partners for monitoring their claim action plans.
Interface with vendors, brokers, TPAs, insurers and defense attorneys to get desired results and timely resolutions and recovery.
Answer questions and provide assistance to business units for problem claims and service complaints around claims administration.
Responsible for mitigating risk through management of WC claims that remain in open status after plant closures with the goal of timely resolution and recovery.
Review monthly RMIS loss run reports to identify facilities for focus based on frequency, severity, and lag-time. Identify historical loss experience and assist divisions in the development of statistical improvement goals for both short and long-term measurement.
Partner with Human Resources, Environmental, Health & Safety and Facility Management to ensure containment of workers compensation costs through semiannual claim reviews and accident investigation methodologies; for example, addressing the root cause of all injuries and near-miss incidents. Assist in the development of programs to proactively implement corrective action solutions.
Work with TPA Client Service Director and OSHA record-keeping vendor on electronic reporting. Provide monthly updates for AMETEK users to access OSHA record-keeping database.
Work with Corporate Environmental, Health & Safety department and divisions, as needed, to address ergonomic and safety hazards. Assist with joint efforts to develop action plans for improvement.
Research, identify and maintain “best practices” in the field of workers compensation, risk and claims management, with the goal of shared methodologies and programs considered for transfer within the corporation.
Knowledge on all matters concerning workers compensation including various jurisdictions, coverage, statutory interpretation and obligations, procedures, reporting requirements and right to benefits.
Must possess strong prioritizing skills; have a high level of organizational, written, verbal communication and presentation skills. Experience with problem-solving and persuasive negotiation techniques.
Advanced computer skills in; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Office. Experience with Concur and Origami RMIS system helpful.
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and work in a team environment.
